Checking In

Ok, grabbing a moment to give you a quick update, my parents arrived in Cancun on Monday morning and we have been running around ever since. I thought I would still have a chance to blog, but alas, time with family is precious and I haven't been able to steal away.

Max is keeping us all on our toes, entertaining the grandparents immensely. We are painting and fixing up his room and he has been a very helpful (though messy) little boy. He is thrilled to have grandma and grandpa here, doesn't want to leave their side. My poor mom got a migraine the first day here, I guess she isn't used to the constant chatter of a preschooler full of excitement. I tried to get Max out of their hair for a couple of hours today, but he was having none of that. He actually turned down a trip to McDonald's (usually a BIG treat) because he said he wanted to see the grandparents and help them paint.

The funniest problem has been trying to find a temperature that is acceptable to all. The Cancunenses in the house (I include myself) are freezing, sweaters, socks and scarves while the Canadians are complaining of the heat and asking for the air conditioning! Mom and dad cannot believe that I am shivering and covered in goosebumps, I think they are going to take my Canadian passport away when they leave.

We've just finished painting Max's room and we are exhausted. Hopefully we'll finish everything up in there tomorrow so we can get on with the vacation part of their trip. We're headed to Merida on the weekend, my parents have never been there and I am excited to show them something quite different than what they've seen in Cancun and the Riviera Maya. Wish us luck surviving the three hour drive with a hyper almost four year old!

I know I am behind in answering emails and reading blogs and all that internetty goodness, please forgive me, I promise to get back on track soon! Hope life is grand for you all, I'll be back as soon as I can slip away again. Ciao for now!

Enjoy the time with your parents! Your readers can wait to hear all the stories after they leave. They are going to love Merida, such a great place. And so many stops between Cancun and Merida. Be sure to stop in Valladolid. Have a great and safe trip.

Don't forget to see the Picasso exhibit at the Olimpo!
I laughed when you said that your parents wanted the ac, how cold do they like it anyway? It was in the single digits here (Celsius not Fahrenheit single digits).

It sounds as if you are having a wonderful time. I'm sure Max and your parents are ecstatic! :D

I cannot wait to see what you did to max's room. Akilean is about to turn 4 on the 26th and he shares a room with Lena. Her decorating is the main event.

I just got back from visiting my mom in San Diego. I love how the kids kick it into high gear.

American Mommy- It's really amazing to watch them interact, it's been almost a year since they have seen Max and he has changed so much. They are in awe!

Gary- Hmph and pout will you? Alright, alright, I'll try to get some blog reading and commenting in soon. :)

K.W.- The folks are really excited about Merida, hope we can survive the drive! I think we are going to take the long way so a stop in Vallodolid is possible depending on timing. I'd love to do that, we've never been, but our schedule is pretty tight. Have a great weekend! (Sorry for the lack of beach pics lately, it's been a bit too cold for me, as shocking as that may seem).

Theresa- Oooh, I didn't know the exhibit was on, thanks! I sure hope it's a bit warmer in Merida than here but it sure doesn't look like it. You around this weekend? I don't know what our plans are for sure, we're winging it, but perhaps we could meet up!

Sandye- The level of excitement is huge, lol! The grandparents are quite overwhelmed by their "big boy" and his wicked sense of humour.

Rosas Clan- The room is almost done, we went with primary colours and NO characters or movie themes, just kept it simple and clean. I'll get some pics up when we're finished. I'm amazed how well behaved Max has been, he listens to everything the grandparents say (I think I'll ask them to stay, lol!)

Heather- We're having a blast with the fam and I am very sad that they are leaving tomorrow. They've told me we probably won't see them for a couple of years. :( waaaaaah

Momto3- I'll see if I can get some pics of the room, the lighting is weird down there but I'll do it if Hubby ever brings my camera home (grrr). ;-)
